Really neat cover of Pink Floyds Wish You Were Here by The Milk Carton Kids. I personally like it more than the original!! Reminiscent of Simon & Garfunkel

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjXZj_hpNoY
The Antlers' version is pretty nice too. It's definitely their own sound, which is what I think makes a good cover.

Aaaaand a cover of Battle Against a Weird Opponent from Mother 1&2 (games)
I really enjoy this!! Very jazzy

Okay so the first & most obvious one (to me) right now is, of course, "The Sound of Silence" originally by Simon & Garfunkel  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4fWyzwo1xg0 and recently remade by Disturbed  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ZDqVdGGrjE I've always been fond of the original but this remake just completely blows the original out of the water (in my opinion). Another that comes to mind that I'm not sure I'd say is better than the original per se (I don't think  but very good in a different way than the original for sure is "Come Together" originally by The Beatles  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lTiiJ1_vAj0 (sorry, this was the best video I was able to find) and obviously this song has been remade by many people & I would never claim that any of those remakes are better than The Beatles' version, but my current favorite remake of this song is Godsmack's version  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1HHqHbF1j4w which, while very different from the original, I think it's very good & I personally love it. I'm sure I'll think of other covers to add here late but these are the top two coming to mind right now.

"Beautiful clothes give people courage and confidence." -Isabella (Paradise Kiss)

"Why can't men have strong feminine sides? Does that make them less of a man? I don't know why our society has such an emphasis on masculinity and femininity-it's really gross. I don't think you're truly sexy until you don't care about that." -Adam Lambert

"This is what you came for" originally by Rihanna and Calvin Harris and covered by Conor Maynard and Samantha Harvey. I think that their version of the song is better than the original.

Marian Hill did a cover of One Dance by Drake. I wouldn't say it's better than the original, it's just so different, you guys should check it out! > ♡♡♡♡

This band is so amazing.

Britney Spears has covered a lot of songs by different artists, and two of my favorite covers by her are:

Burning Up (by Madonna) -

Tom's Diner (by Suzanne Vega) -

Pour Some Sugar On Me

I'm sure many of us know this song. However, a few years ago one of my favorite bands The Maine did a cover of it for an album called Punk Goes Classic Rock. Now I'm not sure if it beats the original done by Def Leppard, but it comes pretty close. I love their cover of it. I think The Maine did a great job.

I like both versions, but I really love most the version Aerosmith did after Mark Chesnutt's version.

Disturbed's version of "Sound of silence" is so powerful and beautiful. I love the Simon and Garfunkel version but Davids vocals are just spine tingling and tear inducing.

Original: Simon and Garfunkel - https://youtu.be/4zLfCnGVeL4

Little talks by Julia Sheer and Jon (have no idea what his last name is), originally by Of Monsters and Menhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yd-EqvY4HH8
I just like this way better than the rather rushed original. I love all of Julia Sheer´s covers in general, though.

I just fell in love with Marilyn Manson's cover of "Sweet Dreams" (Are Made Of This) originally by Eurythmics (though I love their version anyway)

Great thread!

One of the most poignant examples of this, for me, is Hurt.  Originally by Nine Inch Nails but covered and completely owned by the legendary Johnny Cash.
