I'm going to be the "ungrateful jerk" in the room and point out that it will take a lot of money to recreate hair, makeup, skin tones and - to a lesser extent since they're often covered - tattoos.

I know it's been mentioned in another thread, but they should have coughed up cash to help pay for all of that.

When I go to the Star Avenue it tells me there are no stars available to take take pictures with. I have checked several times throughout the day and I get the same message. Has the re-shoots not started yet or am I doing something wrong?

I don't think it's working.  When I change my outfit, all of page 2, etc, are of that outfit.  I retook a photo, changed my outfit again, and the outfit I retook the photo with, changed to my current outfit.  And page 2, 3, 4, are of the outfit before.  I'm so confused!!

Retake Directions:
Open your Star Avenue Album.
Select the picture that you want to retake.

I was trying to take a pic of Jules Verne, it said 0 money. I took pics several times and it charged nothing, but then all of a sudden the last 2 times it charged 750 each, at that moment I stopped (I had been clicking really fast so it got me twice.) Right now when I look at the page it wants 750D.

It sounds like you're on Star Avenue and not in your album (unless I'm misunderstanding your post).

Retake Directions:
Open your Star Avenue Album.
Select the picture that you want to retake.
Click the redo button.
Confirm.

IF you hit this particular glitch, pictures only change on pages you've never viewed and/or are viewing for the first time. Your redo isn't going to change (because in order to do a retake you have to be on that page).

I just tried to make this glitch happen. It didn't.

However, the outfits are not the issue since I have some of my all time faves saved, but hair and makeup are different, there's no in game function to save fave makeup combos. Also, I don't save the make up combos, because I didn't think I would have to recreate the same look.
And I know it'll take longer for me to recreate the make up/ hair for some of the fantastical outfits.

When you play this game for 10 years on the french version and nearly 5 for the english one..... trust me, it's not a matter of the outfits, it's more over the nostaligia and all the creativity time spent!!! And now it's like all the proof of your activity and all the evolution of you style ...is gone....

Before it was a little part of my routine and secret garden, but now....it's just a game like any other.....

I'm sorry to not be able to be greatful over this compensation....but i just feel like the soul of this game has been destroyed...T_T

I get being upset BUT the alternative is that admin could have chose to do nothing instead. Does having to retake the images suck? Yes. But in reality how often did you really take the time to go back and look at all of the photos? I know that I personally only glimpsed through them during Halloween to make sure I wasn't repeating a costume and I also know that I had some amazing overall looks put together. The sad fact of things being digital is that sometimes they just disappear and having been on a site where things like FD started to get screwy I'm just happy that the issue wasn't more major, for example I'd be way more pissed if my closet suddenly disappeared. Finally, maybe there's a chance some good can come from this like a feature for us to save our top ten hair and make-up combos the same way we save outfits.

I understand your point of view, and I get that the issue could have been worse - but, it wasn't. I understand that they did what they did to fix the problem. But my point is that we were not compensated enough for the fix.

You may not have gone through the pics, so this change isn't a big deal to you. But, I actually did go back and look through my previous outfits often to see how my nista evolved. I made it a point to change my nista's full look every 2-3 pictures just so there's variety and I used the outfits I already created as motivation to create more outfits. Losing the images is like losing your nista's history. You forget how creative you were when your closet was limited to only a few pieces and it was nostalgic and interesting to see those outfits again. I used them to push myself to get more creative.

I understand digital images don't last, but they could've compensated better. As some other players have pointed out it will cost a lot to recreate the full hair and make up for some looks. I have over 300 pictures, following my previous standard of changing outfits every 2-3 pictures, it would need to recreate a minimum of 100 different looks. That's full face × 100 (assuming I get the make up right in the first visit) + (hair × 100) + (tattoos × 100) + (skin tone ×100). That's a lot of FD. For players who have been playing longer/ have all the stars it may cost even more.

As Emmy pointed out, nista's who used the star picture thread can still reservist some of their old pictures. Unfortunately, I'm one of the nista's who never participated in that thread. Im also one of the nista's who didn't save screenshots of the star pictures. So, I have no option to revisit my old outfits.

But my main point is that in my opinion we were NOT compensated enough for the change and that the free retake is a good step, but it's not enough.

What if something worse happens such as losing our entire closet, and they under-compensate again by giving a couple thousand FD + nineland sale. It will literally take hundreds of thousands of FD to refill my closet and it's not as extensive as some of the more dedicated players. (God forbid this ever happens, it's just an example to better explain my point).
Just because they compensated doesn't make it alright. The compensation has to match the level of damage regardless of issue.
In my opinion, under-compensation is not something to be grateful for, and I'm not thankful for the free takes - they could've compensated better.

We shouldn't have to blindly accept under-compensation just because they did/offer something. Also, in my opinion, if it wasn't for Emmy continuing to bother admin about certain issues, a lot of things (including this issue) wouldn't get fixed. It takes a lot to mediate and I'm grateful towards her for the amount of time and effort she's put into this site. I just wish admin did the same - or at the very least kept us informed, instead of leaving us in limbo.

Edit- granted we don't know what's happening on the admin's side. There might be deeper issues, or they just don't care enough. We won't know until they tell us -if they tell us.

I think that each player used the photos in a different way.
I have all of my looks (with the transparent background) saved and most are named with the date I created the outfit. However, this doesn't change the fact that I still liked looking at the star photos and considered them as my doll's memories.
What is more, I loved looking at other people's photos, even if some weren't even friends - whenever I saw an outfit on the fashion show that I liked I'd head to that person's profile to take a look at their star pictures.

I don't think I'll have the time or the patience to redo the photos, even if I feel like the photos gallery is a huge part of my profile, it just won't be the same.
The only compensation that would please me is them deciding to really try to revive and save the game by adding new features.
